West Wales Masonic Vehicle Association on Tour

Sunday, May 15th, saw the inaugural meeting of the West Wales Masonic Vehicle Association when we arranged an informal get-together and run out to Sunday lunch at the Moody Cow near Aberaeron.

Approximately 20 interesting vehicles joined in, varying from the 1951 Chevrolet of W Bro Adrian from Neyland Lodge to a state-of-the-art all-electric Polestar of W Bro Martin Lowe from Aberystwyth. The total range of vehicles included an Aston Martin DB11, BMW i8, BMW Z4, 1951 Chevrolet, Ford Mustang, 1959 Fordson Dexta tractor, Jaguar e-type, Jaguar f-type, Jaguar i-pace, Mazda MX5, 1982 Mercedes 230e, Mercedes 500SL, Mercedes e-class, Polestar electric car, Porsche 993 (x2), Range Rover Sport (new model), Rolls Royce Silver Shadow and 2x Subaru Imprezas.

With suggested scenic routes from three starting points at Aberystwyth, Carmarthen and Haverfordwest, others joined us at the Moody Cow where we enjoyed an informal Sunday lunch in excellent company.  Routes included, from Aberystwyth via the Ystwyth and Aeron Valleys, from Carmarthen via the Towy and Aeron Valleys and from Haverfordwest over the Preseli Mountains. All great roads for a fine Sunday drive.

Based on a suggestion by our Provincial Membership Office, W Bro Stephen Fearn, the Moody Cow was chosen for its central location, perfect facilities, and the fact that the Provincial Caravan club were holding a rally at Aberaeron that weekend.  We were delighted that some 20 members of the caravan club came up to the Moody Cow to welcome us on arrival and join us for the Sunday lunch.

It is hoped that another similar social event over the summer months. If you have not yet been in touch, simply send an email to VW Bro Ryland James (dpgm@wwmason.com) and he will be delighted to add you to the mailing list.

With the new Motorcycle Lodge awaiting consecration, hopefully some of their potential members may like to escort us next time? We hope to appeal to enthusiasts of all interesting vehicles (and it was great to see W Bro Emyr Hughes bring his classic tractor along).  If someone has a suitable venue, what about a Lodge Summer BBQ as a Festival Fundraiser? I don’t think it will take too much persuasion for W Bro Rhodri Evans to bring along his classic Bus – picking up passengers prepared to donate their fare to the festival on the way.

All suggestions will be most welcome.
