Haverfordwest & St Davids' Air Cadets

Earlier this year James Ross, head of West Wales Masons was able to make a

generous donation to help fund the purchase of adventure training equipment for the

Haverfordwest & St Davids Air Cadets.

The equipment that was funded has been used by the cadets throughout the year and it has helped

them tremendously with various trekking and camping expeditions, and for some cadets to help them in pursuit of their Duke of Edinburgh awards.

Cadet Amy Rudder writes: Using this equipment has helped me to refine my camping and outdoor

cooking skills alongside helping me to create more memories and friends within cadets. I have used this equipment for a DofE training expedition and also on an outdoor MasterChef competition, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. On the training expedition, I also had the opportunity to make friends

within another squadron. Being given these opportunities within cadets has increased my

confidence and given me experiences I will never forget.

Cadet Sam Miller writes: I have had the opportunity to use the cooking equipment for cooking on

squadron which has allowed me to gain and improve skills that are needed in life. The use of cooking

equipment also allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and to improve my communication and

thinking skills. It also allowed me to make friends with people from my squadron in an educational

and interesting manner. I have not been able to use any of the other equipment yet, although I

hope to do so in the new year when I can learn to take on new challenges.

Unfortunately, the weather does not allow these activities to continue in winter and the equipment is currently safely in store. at our Centre in Haverfordwest. We are all looking forward to getting it out and starting to use it again next Spring.
