Thank You Strumble Lodge!

Members of Strumble Lodge joined Newport Surf Lifesaving Club at one of their weekly training sessions on Thursday 16th June, with Beach Captain, Ant Rogers, demonstrating the resuscitation and lifesaving techniques the club teaches to their young members.

Pictured outside their club house at Newport Beach, which is in urgent need of repair, the young members at the weekly session thanked Strumble Lodge for their £500 donation towards their fundraising appeal for the refurbishment of the building. Worshipful Master W Bro Eurig Evans and Junior Warden Bro Brian Laugharne just managed to squeeze into the photo on the left-hand side!

Currently with around 80 members, the club’s volunteer coaches provide training in water safety, lifesaving, first aid and resuscitation, enabling members to gain these skills in a family friendly and fun environment. Following a programme of recognised awards and qualifications, members can ultimately gain the National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification. Many go on to become the RNLI beach lifeguards who provide a vital service during the summer months, helping to keep our beaches safe for us all.

Strumble members learnt about life saving skills on the beach and W Bro Eurig can be seen learning recovery position techniques from the Club’s Ant Rogers. An enjoyable and very instructive time was had by all.
