Going for Gold in Australia

Lewis Evans, a young athlete from Tregaron, has been selected to represent Great Britain in the World Transplant Games in Perth, Australia this coming April.

In order to participate he had to raise a considerable sum of money and thanks to the Province and Peterwell Lodge he has been able to achieve this.

Lewis, who has had a kidney transplant, will compete in the 100m, 200m and the 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m relays.

He said “I am extremely grateful to the West Wales Freemasons and to Peterwell Lodge for their very generous assistance which will allow me to represent my country”.

When he is not hurtling around the athletics track at great speed, Lewis spends time talking to young people who are awaiting, or have just had, an organ transplant.  He uses his own experience to show what can be done with perseverance and dedication.

An impressive young man.
