Shalom House hospice given £1000 by West Wales Freemasons

Shalom House hospice in St David’s has been chosen to receive a grant of £1000 from West Wales Freemasons.
The grant from West Wales Freemasons comes through the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) and will be used to support their work in providing a unit for respite and palliative care in an environment of tranquillity and support for the inhabitants of Pembrokeshire. Plus, the relief of physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychological suffering of the patient together with the provision of rest and support for the patient's family.
This is just one of 227 grants to hospices around the country from Freemasons. In total £600,000 will be donated to hospices all over England and Wales this year.
This includes £300,000 which will be distributed to each hospice that receives less than 60 per cent funding from the NHS. A further £300,000 will be provided to individual hospices across England and Wales via Hospice UK, the national charity for hospice care. The MCF is partnering with Hospice UK to re-imagine day hospice services.
Contributions from Freemasons to hospices have exceeded £15 million in England and Wales since 1984.
In addition to the Provincial donation, Kensington Royal Arch Chapter No 366 donated a cheque for £500 to Shalom House.
The presentation was made by outgoing 1st Principal E. Comp Martin Thomas, accompanied by his wife Alison.
