Llanelli Centre for the Deaf open their new access ramp thanks to money received from West Wales Freemasons

On Sunday 4th June 2022 the Llanelli Centre for the Deaf used the occasion of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee to officially open the access ramp to their revitalised garden area. This was made possible by a £5,000 donation by the Provincial Grand Lodge of West Wales.

In the April meeting of the provincial Charity Stewards the St Teilo Charity Steward W.Bro. Keith Eckley proposed the amount of £5k be donated to the Llanelli Centre for the Deaf to allow them to then gain access to a further £10k in National Lottery Funding, the whole project costing just under £17k.  The balance of the funding was supported by £250 from St Teilo, £100 from Tenby Lodge and just under £600 from St Peter’s Ladies Night.

As well as providing financial support the St Teilo Charity Steward also provided much needed physical support to the construction of the safety barriers two days prior to the event (as evidenced in the photo) for which, he was honoured to actually cut the ribbon at the official opening ceremony.

Pictured are the people attending the opening ceremony, Kelly McDermott presenting the cheque from her ladies’ night and the hard-working Charity Steward from St Teilo (checked shirt).
