Pembroke Dock Open Day

Loyal Welsh Lodge 378 and Castlemartin Lodge 1748 recently opened the doors of the Lodge Building to the general public.

This was first time that the public have been admitted since 2014 during the Bi-centenary celebrations of Pembroke Dock’s founding.

The visitors were welcomed to the Temple by Brother Martin Cavaney who outlined a brief history of the one hundred and twenty one year old building.

This was followed by a question and answer session led by Worshipful Brothers James Thomas and Paul Armstrong of Loyal Welsh Lodge and Castlemartin Lodge respectively.

Nearly sixty people attended and they raised a number of questions about the building and Masonry in general.

The visitors were also given a tour of the building and served tea and biscuits afterwards.

The most commonly heard remark was “ I have passed this building hundreds of times and often wandered what it was like inside”..

During the afternoon Mrs Ann Neville presented a wonderful sketch of the Lodge building drawn by her late father Worshipful Brother David George a member of Loyal Welsh Lodge.

The event proved a great success and plans are being made to repeat the exercise some time in the future.
