West Wales Help for Healthcare

In these challenging days, one of the most difficult things for those who find themselves in healthcare environments is separation from their loved ones. Hospitals and Care Homes are unable to allow visitors, and this means that those in the most need of their loved ones are isolated and alone.

To help patients stay in touch with their loved ones, The West Wales Grand Charity has bought 21 x 10” Media Pads at a cost of £1,800 and these will be donated to specific health professionals throughout the Province to use in a range of hospital and healthcare settings.

James Ross, Head of West Wales Freemasons said: “These are extremely challenging times and we are delighted to be able to help key workers on the frontline care for our loved ones in the way we would care for them ourselves.”

The fact that families are unable to visit creates further problems for patients because their families are unable to bring fresh clothing and toiletries to them.

In conjunction with the Hywel Dda Health Board, members of the Mackworth Club for “light blue” freemasons has developed a scheme to provide new nightwear and underwear to patients in the Province who are unable to get these things in the usual way.

An initial order has been placed for over £10,000, which will provide garments for both ladies and men in all the sizes available. The clothing will be held in a central store by the Health Board and distributed throughout the Province as patient demand dictates.

Gareth Evans, Secretary of the Mackworth Club said: “This initiative being led by The Mackworth Club showcases the excellent charitable work being undertaken by our light blue club across the Province.”

James Ross Head of West Wales Freemasons said: “The Mackworth Club has been a huge asset to the Province during the current crisis. They have made a valuable contribution to our weekly Executive meetings and we are delighted to be able to facilitate this excellent Initiative.”
