The Colin O’Dare Masonic Bursary is presented to a remarkable individual who initially enrolled on a 14-16 engineering programme in which she excelled. She progressed to the level 3 enhanced programme before becoming the first aerospace apprentice at the College, employed by Metal Seagulls. She has excelled in welding, materials transformation, CAD and CAM, and embarked on a career supported by her mentors Jonathan and Professor Patricia Porter who commented that she is committed, polite and always willing to take on new challenges.
In recognition of this dedication her employer sponsored her to undertake courses at ULPower Aero Engines in Belgium, where she became one of only five females worldwide to complete the installation and maintenance course, and also at DUC Helices Propellers in France where she became one of the only three females worldwide to undertake the installation and maintenance course for variable pitch propellers.
Supported by the West Wales Freemasons, this bursary goes to Layney Lyndsay.
