This year the award of £1500 was given to Kelly Williams. Kelly was selected by the college and their citation is below.
It is with immense pride and admiration that we honour Kelly Williams, a truly exceptional individual whose journey shows remarkable dedication, leadership, and a pioneering spirit. Over the last four years at Pembrokeshire College, Kelly has proven herself one of a kind, an amazing figure whose transformative apprenticeship has seen her grow significantly, mastering complex technical skills and enthusiastically taking on new responsibilities. Her outstanding work ethic, consistently going above and beyond, has made her an invaluable and respected member amongst peers and colleagues.
Kelly's influence reaches far beyond her role; she has become an inspiring advocate for females in technology, especially engineering. Her commitment led her to passionately engage with students across Pembrokeshire, notably delivering an impactful presentation at Milford Haven School, encouraging young women to break barriers. Furthermore, Kelly has actively mentored new female apprentices in engineering across several companies, offering invaluable support as they embark on their own careers.
Academically, Kelly's drive is exceptional; she consistently achieves outstanding results, securing distinctions in every HNC unit and an average of 98% in engineering mathematics – a Pembrokeshire College first! A true sign of her growing leadership, Kelly delivered an amazing keynote address at the prestigious Shell Control Room opening ceremony at Pembrokeshire College, an event attended by very important people from across the United Kingdom. She spoke compellingly about how new facilities would enhance learning, sharing invaluable lessons from her apprenticeship.
Looking ahead, Kelly has clear ambitions, planning to pursue a BSc in Instrumentation and Control. As she embarks on this next exciting chapter, we extend our very best wishes for her continued success.
