Over 130 people attended the Tenby Lodge summer fundraising BBQ on August 9th at the Swanlake Inn at Jameston.
Worshipful Master Damian Brown, who owns the Inn, generously allowed the lodge the use of the bar and grounds for the event, on what was a very warm evening. The ticket price was all inclusive and so covered food, drinks and entertainment for the evening.
The Lodge had obtained donations of food products, beer and wine, and raffle and auction prizes for the event from 17 different sponsors, the logos of which were all featured on a huge display board along with photographs of charitable donations made by the lodge in recent months. Letters of thanks have since been sent to all 17 sponsors.
Among the sponsors were lodge members Jac Worley who generously provided ice creams from his van (Worley’s of Manorbier), David Marshall, who contributed a stay at his guest house (Pen Mar in Tenby) as a prize, Paul Deverson who runs the Evergreen Inn in Tenby and funded the Miltones band for the event, and of course the Worshipful Master himself who not only provided the venue but donated a Smart TV as an auction prize. Talented member Mike Jones also entertained by singing and playing guitar.
Some of the members wives and partners had prepared delicious salads and desserts to compliment the choice of meats. A number of lodge members donated raffle prizes.
Several well known brethren attended from as far afield as Aberystwyth, Carmarthen and Llanelli.
The profit from the event was a very impressive £4,336, all of which will be used for charitable purposes.
