Members of Frenni lodge 8427 recently visited Cardigan amateur Boxing club to renew their commitment to the outstanding community asset.
The relationship has extended over nearly 20 years. With Frenni lodge and West Wales freemasons contributing to the rebuilding of the gym and its more recent extension.
The boxing club is oversubscribed with a waiting list of young amateur boxers wishing to join. The recent visit in August saw the gym full of boys and girls of all ages make the very most out of the excellent facilities and the skilled volunteer coaches at hand.
The commitment of the volunteer coaches is second to none giving of their time and expertise freely to ensure the success of the gym continues.
The gym put on a fantastic boxing show in Crymych earlier in the year.
This year has seen long serving successful Cardigan amateur boxers Josh Mellar, Mikey Sulivan and Billy GoodHall all turning professional in their respective weight classes. A fantastic achievement for all involved.
It was great to see Ioan Croft back in Cardigan after his recent professional fight in London. With 7 wins under his belt and still happy to help out bringing on the next generation.
Frenni lodge is very proud of the relationship it has with Cardigan ABC. Many members of Frenni have been involved with the club in and out of the ring over the last two decades. It is with great pride and honour that Frenni lodges will continue that relationship with a further three-year commitment to support the boxing club with its travelling costs.
A cheque of £500 was presented by the W Bro Peter Lewis, Master of Frenni Lodge.
“We are very grateful of the support we receive from Frenni lodge and the West Wales freemasons. We are all volunteers here and are very grateful of the continued support. The gym is very busy, and we can see the next generation of talent growing. This money will make sure that everyone has an equal opportunity to for fill their potential. Thank you.” Mr Guy Croft Head Coach at Cardigan ABC.
