Caravan Club Celebrates 200 Rallies

The Caravan Club was formed following an initiative from the late RW Bro Colin O’Dare who entrusted the foundation to W Bro Mansel Hughes who together with a group of other enthusiastic members organised an initial rally at Pembrey Country Park in 27th September 1997 and next year will celebrate thirty years of existence.

Over a sunny weekend on 21st & 22nd August at Rosedale Caravan Park Overton near Wrexham, the club celebrated its 200th rally since its formation and there were nine units in attendance plus the President W Bro Dilwyn Littlejohns and his good lady Gina who made the journey staying over at a local hotel to help celebrate at the event.

Members arrived for the weekend and spent Friday afternoon sitting in the sunshine before meeting in the communal room on site for a fish and chip supper with cocktails provided by W Bro Eddie Roberts and his wife Maureen and followed by a wonderful Celebration cake in the shape of a caravan produced by Mrs Elaine Lowe the wife of the Club Chairman W Bro Martin Lowe (as seen in the picture).

The evening continued with lots of reminiscing of previous outings before finishing off the evening with a Triva Fun Quiz which was won by the Nomads team.

The weekend continued Saturday lunch time with a visit to the Ellesmere Annual Carnival which was followed with an evening out at the Boathouse Restaurant.

Our next rally will be held at Sophia Gardens Cardiff over the weekend of the 18th & 19th September to coincide with the Edgar Lodge Meeting on Saturday morning should anyone wish to join us they will be most welcome.
