Extract from the Address Given by The Grand Superintendent
It is a great pleasure to be here this evening to present a Royal Arch Long Service award to one of the most highly respected Companions in West Wales Freemasonry, Companion Brynmor Sidney Lewis.
Comp Bryn, you were initiated into the Neyland Lodge on 10th November 1977, Passed on 13th April 1978 and Raised on 10th December 1978.
You were Worshipful Master of Neyland Lodge in 1984. You served Neyland Lodge as Secretary from December 1999 until December 2012.
Your ability to play the organ has been a constant in your masonic career. You have always been very willing to fill in as organist and you have served every unit you are a member of as organist at some point. You served Neyland Lodge as organist in 2014, from 2016 until 2019, and again since 2021. You served Neyland Lodge as Charity Steward from 2016 until 2020, and you again stood in as Charity Steward in 2021.
You were a Founder Member of The Richard Warburton Lodge in 2003, which at the time was specifically for Lodge Secretaries. You have served that lodge as organist on 3 separate occasions.
You joined the Kensington Lodge of Installed Masters in 2014 and served that Lodge as organist in 2018.
In the Province of West Wales your first Provincial Rank was that of Past Provincial Grand Registrar. That is a very high rank for a first appointment.
Your dedication to Neyland Lodge in particular and the Craft in general was recognised by The United Grand Lodge of England who appointed you to the rank of Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in April 2010.
In the Royal Arch you were Exalted into the Kensington Chapter in December 1985 and you have been a loyal member for 40 years.
You were made Provincial Organist in The Royal Arch by Stephen Hookey at his Installation meeting as Grand Superintendent in July 2014.
Companion Bryn, in the real world you were born on 3rd January 1945. The Battle of the Bulge was raging in Europe.
You served a 5-year engineering apprenticeship and then went to Huddersfield Technical Teachers Training College to study for a PGCE which was awarded by Leeds University. You went on to spend 38 years as a lecturer in the Engineering Department in Pembrokeshire College finally retiring in 2005 from your role as the Programme Area Manager for the Engineering Department.
You have been married to your wife Janet for 58 years. You have 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren.
Comp Bryn, your commitment to serving your family, your students, your community and freemasonry is a fine example to us all.
I wasn’t a freemason when your career in freemasonry started, but I have been fortunate enough to know you for many years and I know you to be great company, good fun and always willing to help your lodge and chapter and the province in any way you can
Comp Bryn, I am delighted to present you with this certificate and badge as a memento of 40 wonderful years’ service to Royal Arch Masonry. I wish you health and strength to continue to enjoy RA Masonry for many years to come.
Many Congratulations
