W Bro ‘Brig’ Youngs, JW and Head of Research in the Richard Warburton Lodge 9767 joined other residents of Pontprennau Cardiff (maintaining social distancing of course), for a VE Day Street Party.
To add a little flavour and nostalgia to proceedings he managed to squeeze, just, into his Royal Navy tropical square rig whites, last worn in service in 1966, much to the amusement, and interest, of the neighbours. Happily, nothing derogatory was mentioned concerning his long hair, non regulation beard or the substituted black shoes that replaced the original white ones.
There was food, tea, alcohol, singing and quizzes with young families and wrinklies alike. Brother/Sisterhood was shared in true Masonic fashion proving, emphatically, that in the most dire circumstances currently imposed, within the human spirit burns a flame of fortitude, resilience, compassion and unity of purpose.
