Her Majesty the Queen finishes the day with a Gin and Dubonnet. It's so simple to make, it hardly counts as a cocktail. Many recipes have it two parts Dubonnet to one part Gin, but I like it half and half myself.
Ingredients
50ml Gin
50ml Dubonnet
A slice of lemon or orange
Ice (optional)
Method
Mix the ingredients together in a suitable glass. If you are adding ice, wait a moment two for the mixture to cool down, then relax and enjoy.
The Provincial Grand Master walked into a Lodge bar after a
meeting and clears his voice to the Brethren he says, "I hear your Lodge are a bunch of hard drinkers. I'll give £500 the Lodge Relief Chest if any Brother in here who can drink 10 pints of
Guinness back-to-back, but it is a one off only one of you can try"
The room is silent, and no one takes up the Provincial Grand Master’s offer. The Almoner stood up and left the Lodge. Ten minutes later the
Almoner returns and taps the PGM on the shoulder. "Is your bet still good?", asks the Almoner.
The PGM says yes and asks the bartender to line up 10 pints of Guinness. Immediately the Almoner tears into all 10 of the pint glasses drinking them all back-to-back.
The other Lodge members cheer as the PGM sits in amazement.
The PGM gives the Lodge Charity Steward the £500 and says to the Almoner, "If you don't mind me asking, where did you go for that 10 minutes you were
gone?"
The Almoner replies, "Oh...I had to go to the Rose and Crown down the street to make sure I could do it first"
